RESIDENTS from migrant and refugee backgrounds will be able to learn how to start their own business in Hobart thanks to the Migrant Resource Centre.
The centre will be hosting two workshops on Wednesday 10 May from 6pm-7pm and Monday 22 May from 5.30pm-7.30pm.
Business Enterprise Centre business advisor Suzi Watral will talk about the steps it takes to transform business dreams into a reality, provide practical advice and answer questions related to business plans, taxation and council permits.
Ms Watral said migrants and refugees had a “tremendous entrepreneurial spirit” and proven success in running their own businesses.
“People from all over the world bring with them a huge range of skills and life experiences, helping to create a more vibrant and diverse economy for all Tasmanians,” she said.
“Many people have run successful businesses in their home countries and are looking for advice and information on how to do so here.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for migrants from any background to come along and get some practical advice on the steps to take in starting their own business.”
The workshops will be held at the Migrant Resource Centre’s offices, located at the KGV Building at 1A Anfield Street, Glenorchy.
