ORCHID enthusiasts from the northern suburbs gathered together recently to discuss the 2017 Tasmanian Orchid Society’s Spring Show.
The weather is always high on the agenda – if the weather is warm then orchids will flower quickly and if cold, they will slow down.
That sounds simple enough, but there are a huge variety of orchids – some flowering quickly, some slowly – so we left the gathering no better off.
Whatever the weather is, be assured that a spectacular orchid show will take place.
Orchid growers from the northern suburbs are known for their high quality plants and in the past seven years, they have taken three grand champions and four reserve champions back to the Glenorchy area.
The 2017 Tasmanian Orchid Society’s Spring Show will be held at the Hobart Town Hall from Thursday 21 September to Sunday 24 September.
The event will be open 1pm-5pm on Thursday, 9am-5pm on Friday and Saturday and 9am-3pm on Sunday.
The sales tables will be overflowing with orchids, as well as “easy to grow” instructions.
Potting demonstrations are once again taking place and Rotary will be providing refreshments from Friday to Sunday.
