FOR more than 125-years, Friendly Care Advantage Pharmacies has been catering for the pharmacy needs of its members and the local community.
With pharmacies located in Hobart, Moonah and New Town, the not-for-profit organisation adheres to the ethos of putting profit straight back into the community.
“Our philosophy is ‘profit for purpose’ and we have followed this belief since the organisation was first founded,” Friendly Care Advantage Pharmacies chairman Mike Jury said.
“The Friendly Care Society is a genuine not-for-profit organisation, with any profits generated from our pharmacies used for the benefit of the community largely through the Hobart Friendly Society Foundation each year.”
Since its establishment in 2009, the Hobart Friendly Society Foundation has provided support financially or in kind to organisations with a health-related focus.
Some of those beneficiaries include Camp Quality, ADARDS, Save the Children, Australian Red Cross, Aurora Disability Services Southern Cross Care, Asthma Foundation and Headway Support Services.
“Our purpose is to put as much back into the local community as possible and by supporting our pharmacies, you are supporting your community,” Mr Jury said.
“Our commitment is that every dollar possible is returned in some way to the community through the Hobart Friendly Society Foundation.”
Recently the organisation has been rebranded and taken on an Advantage franchise.
Mr Jury said the Advantage Group had a business model that was very much in line with its own ethos.
He said this synergy would allow it to provide more effective and efficient services to anyone who comes into the pharmacy.
“This, in turn, shall mean stronger input to the Foundation for distribution to health-related community organisations,” he said.
“Our brand new Advantage Pharmacies offer all the professional services and expert health advice you’ve come to expect, while also stocking an exciting range of health products, new cosmetics, hair care and toiletries to meet all your health and beauty needs.
“As part of this rebranding, we have also introduced a new loyalty card program known as the A-List Rewards Program.
“A big part of this program is a targeted loyalty system that will see our loyal customers receive rewards personally targeted to their interests and previous purchase history.
“Friendly Care Advantage will never be beaten on customer service and care – the A-List Rewards Program is just our way of saying thank you for your loyalty.”
Until the end of September, new members who join the program will receive 200 A-List points (valued at $10), as well as double points for any purchase.
In addition to preparing prescriptions and providing health related advice, Friendly Care Advantage Pharmacy also offers professional services including 20-minute health checks, an Impromy Weight Loss program, blood pressure checks, bowel screening, SMS script reminders, unwanted medicine returns and free delivery service.
“Our customers benefit through our great health services and loyalty program and the community benefits through donations made by the foundation – it’s a win for everybody,” Mr Jury said.
