SPREADING the message on the importance of car security was the focus of a recent initiative implemented by the National Motor Vehicle Theft Reduction Council in partnership with the Glenorchy City Council.
The ‘Kids and Keys’ project saw young people from primary schools across the City of Glenorchy create short, television-style commercials promoting the message that car security begins at home by keeping car keys safe.
The competition’s winner Ella-Dawn Holden, a grade six student from Austins Ferry Primary School, was given the opportunity to work with Hobart-based broadcasting and media production company Hype TV.
She was given the chance to recreate her commercial in a format suitable for cinema and television.
Competition runners-up included Daniel Pur from Glenorchy Primary School and Ruari Leonard from Austins Ferry Primary School.
National Motor Vehicle Theft Reduction Council director strategy and programming Geoff Hughes presented students with their awards and offered his congratulations for their inspiring efforts.
It is anticipated that the winning commercial will be screened at the Glenorchy Village Cinema and possibly as a TV community service announcement.
