Move or be moved

EVERYBODY can dance – it’s a universal language.

The biennial Moonah MOVES Festival will be returning to the Moonah Arts Centre again to give locals a chance to view, create, perform, experiment and experience new ways of moving.

Kicking off on 30 August, MOVES offers a packed program of workshops, performances and events.

Many of the events are free or cost under $20.

Daily Dance for Lunch class offers the chance to come and try out anything from Flamenco to Burlesque.

The hybrid moves series is for those who are a little more adventurous and want to try things like free running, urban dance and parkour.

All classes are $5 each or are covered by festival classes.

A performance will be staged every night of the festival.

There will be something for everyone, ranging from national and international artists presenting critically acclaimed works to emerging artists sharing work made only hours before.

Other events include a silent disco, the LGBTI Elders Dance Club and the glitter-studded, mega fix festival wrap street party.
