Serving the community is what matters

Year six, Hilliard Christian School

LAST school holidays, five students from Hilliard Christian School volunteered to serve the small town of Smithton.

Service to Others Really Matters Company (STORMCo) is a community service initiative of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

Our weekly plan is to run a kid’s club program from 9am to 12noon each morning from Monday to Friday.

In the kid’s club, we engage in activities including puppets, singing, games and craft.

In the afternoons from Tuesday to Thursday, we have done community service projects which included cleaning up yards and gardens for people in the Smithton community.

We were blessed with the opportunities that were granted to us.

Throughout the week we received many thanks and appreciation, one of the couples from the community said, “we’ve never seen young kids get involved in a program like this.”

I would like to thank Adventist Development Relief Agency (ARDA) for the support they’ve given STORMCo.

We would like to praise and admire Phil and Anita Thew for organising the program.

If you want to be part of the team serving the communities and changing the lives of individuals in Tasmania next year, please take the time to contact the office on 6272 1711.

Don’t waste your opportunity, take the chance to transform someone’s life today.

It’s only possible through your help and support.
